I walked in my dad’s hospital room to see an empty bed. “He got transferred to the ICU because his heart rate and temperature was increasing and he’s having trouble breathing”, a lady said. I quickly made my way to the ICU. When I was a few steps from his door, I was so excited and eager to see him. I was about to say “Hi daddy!” But what I saw stopped my whole world. About five doctors and nurses were surrounding him. He wore an oxygen mask; desperately gasping for air. He was moving around and his swollen eyes could barely open. I saw wires and tubes connected everywhere in his body. For a good minute, I was in such shock and pain that I just stood away from him..helplessly just staring at him. I called my sister and she practically ran in the room crying hysterically. My father held her and said under his breath “Silly girl.” My other sister held his hand and said in a broken voice “No matter, what you have to stay strong okay. You can do it. You can’t let anything happen. Don’t worry about anything. I will be here tomorrow.” The whole time she said that, tears were rolling down her face. For the past years, my parents didn’t get along but my mom teared up again and again by his side. I held onto his finger and he squeezed my hands back. My other sister arrived later and couldn’t come in to see him. We explained to her what happened and we started to cry again so my sister yelled, “You guys need to stop it!” and burst into tears. My brother hugged her and she continued to cry on his shoulder. Even my niece and nephew got emotional, their eyes were red.
It’s one thing to hurt, but seeing my whole family broken hearted is just unbearable. I’m just glad we have each other and all the support. There were way too many tears shed today..I’m still crying. He is in critical condition and will continue to stay in the hospital. I wanted to stay over night with him but I have school. Things are so hard for my whole family…prayers from you will be very appreciated. I understand that there are many of you who are already praying for him and gave me many supportive comments, and I’m grateful. Thank you so much.
